Francis Mercier & Magic System 'Premier Gaou'

Francis Mercier & Magic System 'Premier Gaou'
Remix on a modern classic

Originally recorded in the late 90's, Magic System's Premier Gaou was given an exquisite contemporary dance floor make over by the burgeoning Francis Mercier earlier this year. Following on from the success of the new track, Mercier and Spinnin' Deep invite the beloved Black Motion, Paso Doble, Nitefreak, and FMX Omar to each deliver a remix on this modern classic.

"Premier Gaou" is a song by Ivorian Zouglou artists Magic System, taken from the album of the same name. The title literally means "First Fool" in Ivorian slang. The song contains an autobiographical account of lead singer Salif "A'Salfo" Traoré about his ex-girlfriend who tried to hook up with him again when he became famous. Originally recorded in 1999, it became smash indie hit in France three years later. The song meant the breakthrough of little-known Magic System.

In-demand duo Black Motion provide their own unique South African House twist to the record, melting emotive guitar licks around the melodic percussion arrangement.

Montreal based Paso Doble then deliver his own take, expertly crafting a remix that brings out the distinctive features of the composition, while giving it a darkened dance floor edge. With equal vigour, Morocco's FNX Omar and Zimbabwe's Nitefreak each bring their own energy to the tracks, with two driving Afro House cuts.
